Designed for a young, vibrant family, this five-bedroom condo in Manhattan unfolds as a layered expression of modern elegance infused with references to South Asian culture. Urban Raj Revival sits on the Upper East Side, and houses a family living through the lens of heritage, history, and contemporary craft. Every element is strung together to balance everyday functionality with emotional resonance.

The living room brings together South Asian heritage with contemporary comfort. Soft neutral walls and honey-toned wood form the backdrop, giving the room a warm, lived-in feel. Intricately carved wooden armchairs with woven cane backs showcase the beauty of traditional Indian craftsmanship, standing in gentle contrast to the deep teal sofa and patterned cushions.
The walls feature intentionally designed custom arch-shaped mouldings inspired by royal South Asian architecture. This structural detail adds depth and elegance while keeping the space clean and modern. In the nook, a patterned wallpaper with colourful motifs brings a playful burst of colour and character to the room.

The kitchen opens into a dining space inspired by a modern durbar for family meals and memories. The walls are adorned with intricate, arch-inspired motifs through a stunning wallpaper by Iksel that recalls traditional South Asian inspired frescoes and palace details, all refined in a contemporary palette.
A dark wood custom dining table takes centre stage, surrounded by earthy tones that complement the interiors without breaking the theme of the kitchen and the dining space.

The kitchen brings together warmth and craftsmanship through a rich palette of wood, stone, and brass. Deep wooden cabinetry grounds the space, while the textured stone backsplash adds natural depth.
In the adjoining nook, patterned wallpaper and deep green cabinetry create a vibrant bar corner, adding a touch of color and personality. Together, these elements shape a kitchen that feels refined, designed as much for everyday moments as it is for gatherings.

This bedroom channels the spirit of Jaipur through colour, pattern, and atmosphere. A rich terracotta headboard set against a canopy of patterned fabric that wraps the wall and ceiling. The layered motif draws from traditional Rajasthani prints, turning the bed into a focal point within the room.
Soft blush walls and light linens temper the boldness of the patterns, allowing the space to feel warm rather than overwhelming. Bright daylight and simple bedside accents keep the room relaxed and intimate.

The kids bedroom blends playful pop-inspiration with south asian design details. Covered in soft lavender tones, the room feels dreamy and whimsical while remaining rooted in Indian craft and patterns.
The wallpaper takes the spotlight, where delicate palm motifs repeat across a purple backdrop. Inspired by traditional indian block prints, it adds personality while creating a cozy feel. An upholstered headboard and neutral bedding keeps the space balanced with the vibrancy of the wall.
A wavy mirror framed in wood adds charm to the room while adding a sense of fun and character to the overall palette of the space. Together, the colours and patterns create a bedroom that feels imaginative while staying true to the south asian theme of the house.

A refined retreat, the master bedroom is a modern architectural vision while bringing in the poetry of south asian heritage. A deep, inky blue panelled wall holds the space, lending it a gravitas while crisp white ceilings and warm wooden floors keep the atmosphere light, balanced, and contemporary.
A hand-inspired rug the family wanted to repurpose with intricate blue patterns brings artisanal character into the room, echoing the craftsmanship of South Asian design tradition. Bespoke bedside tables created in wood and sculptural lighting in brushed brass add a modern edge, while still honoring the detail that defines the region’s decorative legacy.

Resembling a jewel-like space, the bathroom is designed to feel indulgent yet perfect for vanity. Muted beige, classic panelling and brass hardware bring in a royal touch without feeling overly ornate.
Striking marble slabs in soft grey with warm gold create a natural focal point, adding a sense of luxury and timelessness. The space balances beauty with an ambient glow while magnifying the perfect harmony of the natural textures of the materials.

This room is designed as a comforting space that reflects tradition. The illustrated wallpaper featuring Madhubani motifs takes inspiration from Indian folklore, nature and craft. Rendered in earthy tones, it adds a simple regal touch while bringing a sense of nostalgia to the space.
Simple furniture, soft patterned bedding, and natural wood accents bring a sense of calm to the room. All these thoughtful elements shape a space that celebrates and pays homage to India’s diverse, story-filled heritage.

This home is a testament to our belief that great design lives at the centre of culture, craftsmanship and modernity. From intimate bedrooms to vibrant gathering spaces, the project reflects a thoughtful balance between heritage and innovation, nostalgia and newness. It demonstrates how cultural references can be reimagined for modern lifestyles while feeling sophisticated and globally relevant.
